Timaru (aka 'The riviera of the south') 'is in a very central location, and is within 2 hours of Christchurch, Dunedin, and the Mackenzie country. Near our Domestic Air Terminal is the Levels International Raceway for Motor racing which Attracts Large crowds in the January and March Super V8 and Truck racing. We also have the DB Breweries with group Tours organised and close by the Light Leathers Tannery which supplies Deer Leather to Overseas Fashion Houses such as Gucci and Prada.
Timaru allows easy travelling to the hydro lakes, walks, many different fishing and boating opportunities and sightseeing - particularly at South Canterbury's own Aoraki (Mt Cook - New Zealand's highest mountain), and Lake Tekapo where the is an Ice Skating Rink and Hot Pools. Also Scenic Flights over Mt Cook and the Mt John Observatory for Star Gazing just past Lake Tekapo.
Visit one of over 40 Cafes and Restaurants in the Town, or Stroll down to Caroline Bay where the Blue eyed Penguins are establishing a Colony. Also visit the Trevor Griffiths Rose Gardens and the Bird Aviary. We also have at the North Entrance to Caroline Bay our new CBay swimming Complex and just down the road is the Desmond Unwin Tennis Centre. Also at the Port Entrance to Caroline Bay is the Newly resurfaced Speed Skating Rink which is attracting International Attention.
Visit the Aigantighe Art Gallery, museum, Maori Rock Art at the Information Centre, Dine on the Bay Hill overlooking Caroline Bay or Shop in our Thriving Town, All just a five minute walk from the Guest House.Elizabeth Court is very near the centre of Timaru, and is located at 39 Elizabeth Street, just off SH1.
